Update.  I took the plunge and installed logitechmediaserver-7.9.0.tgz. 
You're right, it behaves much like 7.9.1.  Scan works, but the change of
metadata is slow on Squeezectrl.  
Therefore,  I would appreciate it if you can teach me how to delete the
plugins such that I can try going back to the older version of 7.9.0 I
have.  As said,
/opt/ssods4/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins,
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Plugins
seem to contain nothing.
