This all sounds a bit odd. LMS certainly should not lock up if mysb.com wasn't available. And if there was a communication problem with mysb.com, this would be logged in server.log.
Where did you see the message about connecting to mysb.com? That's nothing LMS would show in its web UI, as it's happening in the background all the time (whenever you access a music service, the radio station directory, display an image from an online source etc.).
