Thanks.  I don't see any specific recommendation for ...lua file
settings in that thread, but the explanation of why it doesn't work is
most helpful.  On doing a little googling I believe there are ways of
using UDP over ssh, so I'll have a crack at that, presumably with port
3483.

Alternatively Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC
renderers.  
Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.  
Wireless Xubuntu 17.10 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with
Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.
