However, on reflection, I suspect I wouldn't be able to use it simply to transfer existing fingerprints to the relevant music files: I'd probably have to re-analyse the lot into a new MIP database, and archive to the files the same time. But that's a long job, even with my modest library of 13,000 tracks.
I have a vague recollection that Spicefly used to recommend using GenPUID to archive fingerprints to their music files; but that's not been maintained for ages, and I believe it's getting increasingly out of date, and therefore troublesome to get running. So I'm beginning to think that archiving the fingerprints to my files at this stage is probably more trouble than it's worth, and I'm just going to have to be careful to make adequate backups of my default.m3lib! ;) Many thanks for all your help.
