I don't understand why you wouldn't just browse by genre if that's how you've organized your library. You get the same hierarchy of genre > artist > album. Plus you get the benefit of seeing artists in multiple genres and (IIRC) you also get genre filtering, so you'd only see albums or tracks by each artist which match the genre you're browsing.
