A followup thread -- since it was replied that
pCP no longer requires completely abandoning previous installs to
do a new upgrade, I resurrected my old RPi, burned the img to an
SD card, connected everything together, and gave it a go. Ulterior
motive -- NAS processor usage a 100% for very long stretches of
time which makes using LMS on it impossible (as it, five minutes
for the web UI to load :-/). pCP looks remarkably similar now to what it was then, which made moving around its UI a breeze. A few updated to get network shares installed (to map my NAS) and LSM, and I've a working LMS. Building the library took a few minutes over two hours. But now I know, from this tread, about the ability to use Music Folders to "add" albums to the library, I no longer have to wait those two hours to see new music in the LSM UI. I've scheduled a re-scan nightly at 2am just in case. Thanks to everyone who responded to this thread. There are other open source products where requests for help in the forums is met with utter silence (looking at you Clementine), but no the LMS/Squeezebox forums. Which rPi did you have. I think the newer models have a more powerful processor. I use the 3B+ -- “Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.” ― Aristotle |
