A few years ago I had a router that started dying - it would one lose
packet every so often. With TCP - this wasn't noticed but as it got
worse, communications slowed down and while Web browsing, fetching email
etc. worked because pages/interactions were small and each had a single
TCP connection per GET/POST) - playing internet radio (i.e. infinite TCP
stream) or anything that required a TCP connection to be kept open for
any length of time just stopped after awhile.

Another case was a switch after a lightning strike which blew a few
items in the house (including TV) - one (and only one) port of 8 became
unreliable - so only one device was affected.

Another case network socket RJ-45 - one pin in socket just broke (half
length) and so connection became intermittent - OK if cable was fully
inserted but if it moved. Not easy to see.

OP needs to look at netstat to see if there are excessive network
errors. The type of errors can often give an indication which end of
the connection is at fault.
Also OP needs to check with just LMS server, Player and network
infrastructure - with no other devices active on the network - to make
sure problem is in those LMS/SB devices.
