Use WinSCP to navigate to the Plugin folder in question

IMPORTANT Make a note of correct owner & group by right clicking on
install.xml and do properties 

Open a terminal window Shift+Ctrl+T or from Commands at top
type exactly this

    sudo chown pi.pi install.xml
--------------------

Execute

close the terminal
Right click on install.xml and do Edit
Edit install.xml as required

Open a terminal window Shift+Ctrl+T or from Commands at top
type exactly this

    sudo chown OWNER.GROUP install.xml
--------------------

Execute

but replace OWNER.GROUP with what it was before

Close the Terminal
Close WinSCP
