You are right, i begin to doubt what the condition was when it worked.
It works when I mount the drive with fstab, but automount does not
work.
And I tried with all kinds of solutions (udevel, devmon, usb-boot ... )
But I have also have a no-go to boot from USB3 with the boot part on SD
and the root on USB3, which was working nicely on the Pi3.

The Pi4 has a huge problem with USB3, reading their own forum.
Not only with booting from USB, also speeds and which brand of
controller the USB/SATA bridge is.

The PCIe / USB3 has not been ready when the PI4 launched, and is after
more then a half year later still not ready.
