Thanks for your rapid reply. Could you please go into a little more
detail about what I need to do to go back to the default parameters and
install the missing modules? As far as I know mine is an
"out-of-the-box" installation and I haven't made any changes since I
installed it. 

The only thing I can think of that might cause problems is the fact that
I'm using the UPnP/DLNA Renderer plug-in. 

Since I started this thread about an hour ago, LMS has crashed again,
altough all I did was try to download the server log (which I can see
via WinSCP and it doesn't seem to have changed since the last time):
