Have just fired up my SliMP3 and all seem to work, this is with LMS 8 on a "Full Fat" Linux so not directly equivalent.
I was wondering if SliMP3 had auto LMS discovery (it does) however in settings (at first boot) you can specify the LMS server IP Address. I would try to specify the LMS server IP first and if all OK then try to troubleshoot the autodiscovery failure.
