To answer your question specifically, yes I have restarted LMS many
times after Music IP is already running (mostly to install plugins.)

The server log is very clean (except for messages generated by plugins)
with only this one other message which I assume is unrelated: [20-12-06
09:04:13.0060] Slim::Utils::OS::OSX::initUpdate (421) Failed to install
LaunchAgent for the update checker.
