Hmm... that's odd/wrong. Can you shut down LMS, remove any potential packages from LMS' cache folder, restart, enable logging for server.updates?
Given the chracteristics you list above the server should check the following URL:
http://www.mysqueezebox.com/update/?version=8.1.1&revision=1610364019&geturl=1&os=debamd64 Which in my case returns a "0" (no update available).
and the "click here" actually downloads 8.1.2 (-logitechmediaserver_8.1.2_1611497551_amd64.deb-)
