Thanks both - I guess you are right that it's the sync algorithm causing this behaviour. In fact I do get occasional short bursts of playback while the microwave is running, indicating that there is a small amount of bandwidth available despite the interference. Oh well, I guess I should look into running a cable to the Boom after all. I did have some powerline adaptors and they worked well, but I found the combination of the Boom power supply plugged into a powerline adaptor plugged into the wall socket just too bulky. I wonder if there's such a thing as a powerline adaptor built into a wall socket.......
