As a last attempt I took away the Applications Preference folder in Library, tried to install 8.2 but once installed it still says 7.9 and it does not work. will not recognize the password for squeezenetwork and server will not turn on, scanning the library does not work either.
I think you're doing too many things, but not the ones you should be doing... you have to do things systematically, respond to questions, rather than just install, re-install, restore and what not. Try one thing you're asked to try, report back. Then we can see what next steps you should take.
Once you had multiple copies of LMS running. You never got to understand why.
Then you failed to install/run a new version. You never got to understand why.
Then you reverted to 7.9 (which one? 7.9 had been around for a long time), but are facing connectivity issues.
All of these might be unrelated, or totally related. Who knows without investigating the root cause of the failures?
So please go back to uninstalling any installation, wiping the trash, and re-installing 8.2 (or whatever you initially wanted to run).
If that still does not work, run the "find" command I gave again. Provide your full server.log file. And we'll continue from there.
