I added all the information on both observations thinking they may be connected, not trying to muddle things (IT guy) I'm using SBTs, piCorePlayer, and SqueezePlay. I can try turning off all other players but one SBT and see if it works. The .m3u file was not manually altered. Created through Orange Squeeze/LMS, yes. No special configurations in these players. >From WebUI (and Orange) I can see the contents of the playlist. I am unable to play a file individually from this playlist.
