Just wanted to update this thread. After some troubleshooting I have been able to isolate the external drive access problem and reliably correct it (albeit with a manual LMS restart).
When I installed LMS I could not get *Automatically start server when system boots* to function. I switched to *Automatically start server at login* and LMS would start on a reboot/login. Tonight, after the system had been up for several hours and unable to access the external media, I shut down LMS and then immediately restarted it. All of a sudden my external media was accessible. I rebooted and LMS could no longer access the drive (using the *Automatically start server at login* setting). I again shut down LMS and immediately restarted it. Again, all my external media was accessible. I tried Auto start at boot again and LMS didn't start at reboot. So, I completely disabled Auto start and manually start LMS after a reboot. It is consistently able to access the external media. This problem reminds me of an old Wifi problem years ago with Powerbooks whereby they would fail to connect to a network at boot because the Wifi hardware driver hadn't yet loaded when the system called for the connection to the access point. It was eventually fixed by Apple with ZERO notification to anyone. Anyway, hopefully toggling LMS off/on helps others using external media drives. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ avalonpb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2495 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115647 _______________________________________________ Squeezecenter mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
