There is a lot of code inside LMS that tries to deal with case variation and it deals with it very well but there is nothing in this area that I know of. As you say it is probably because of Windows but unless you browse by folders it really doesnt matter as long as your tags arent similarly incorrect. Viewing by Artist or Album wont even show you the arbitrary folder name unless you go looking for it. Obviously if you do browse by folder or are using the upnp interface its a different matter.
