I'm not sure thats true, screen burn in is due to LCD pixels being energised not whether the backlight is on or off.
The OP didn't mention the player model, but the "Snow" screensaver is only available on the older players which don't use LCD. There the brightness is crucial for burn in. No display, no burn-in.
