Hi Paul, glad you got it sorted.
The "SD" is the micro SD card (uSD) in the pi that stores the image for
pCP which is loaded into RAM (pi memory) to run pCP. When you setup
pCP, the LMS "data" (cache and prefs) is stored on the uSD. During setp
(the page in your first post) you have the option to just keep it there,
or move it to a drive that you might mount. In my case I used to move
it, but it caused my unique issue.
There has been discussions regarding where is the "best" place to store
the LMS data, and one of the newer suggestions (from @Paul-) is to
create a third partiton on the SD. That is an option when you setup your
pCP. This is what I do. Many thoughts on this but the SD technology is
subject to corruption if power is lost during a data write. pCP loads
into RAM so it is not likely to corrupt, but LMS needs to access the LMS
data.
Regarding mounting and umounting, I was referring to the pCP UI picture
in your first post. Under "pick from detected usb drives to mount" I was
saying to try unchecking the seagate and hit apply, then checking and
hit apply.
Also, since your issue occured trying to backup your music, consider
using samba ("set samba share" section). This creates a "mount point(s)"
where in windows you can create a "network location" by using the server
name and share name (in pcP) to create basically folder location in
windows that looks right at the HDD on your pi.
I also use freefilesync to sync between my master library (on PC) and
mirrored libabry on pCP.
Jim
