Ok - I copied the 192/24 FLACs to the 32GB SD Card and the problem has gone. The 256GB USB stick is USB 3.1, in the blue USB 3.0 slot, and is specified as "upto 130MB/s". I realise this is presumably the initial cached speed. Nevertheless I thought (perhaps wrongly) that anything USB 3.0 had to have a minimum performance. These FLACs are approx 5Mb/s or 700kB/s which doesn't seem much to me. I guess I am wrong!
