I kind of feel like the only dissenting voice here, but I just started
playing with the Rhapsody service about an hour ago and it's totally
confusing. First, the whole Free 30 day trial thing threw me off. If
it's a thirty-day trial, and it's free, why when I go to sign up for an
account, did Rhapsody need my CC #? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?
Plus, I hate the idea of having to go through the trouble of canceling
my account when the 30 days are up.

You don't have to provide any info to sign up for the trial, just click Accept from either the remote or the SN website. You don't need to visit Rhapsody's website at all.

Second, When I create a playlist on my Rhapsody account online, it
appears to work, but when I try to access it in the squeezebox, the
playlist is totally empty. I don't know if this has anything to do
with it, but I'm also running Linux. I have no Windows machines.

Don't have an answer to this one, sorry.

Third, is there anyway to control the Squeezebox through the SN website
when using Rhapsody? All I get when click on the SN tab for it is my
account setup options. There's no web-based song search to add songs
to the playlist in SN? It kinda sucks that I have to type in every
song name that I want to listen to using the remote.

Click the Browse link at the top.
