I thought I would give MP3Tunes a shot as I love the idea of being able to leave my computer off. So I converted all of my FLAC to Ogg at -q10 (500kps) and uploaded. The sound quality was good but I was getting intermittent skipping/stuttering. So, I deleted my Ogg files and reconverted all of my FLAC files to Ogg -q8 (256kps) and the skipping was gone.
HOWEVER, the music now sounds slightly less clear to me. Still good quality but somehow not as "wow that sounds good" as you get streaming FLAC through slimserver. I do notice a flatness to the music... again, not bad but it is there. So now I'm undecided if I want to stick with listening to MP3Tunes or revert back to slimserver. Although I am no audiophile, I do enjoy quality over my system. Does anyone have any thoughts to add? Is it as simpe as deciding on the tradeoff between quality and convenience? I would love to hear where others are on this decision and MP3Tunes. Otherwise, I think it is a wonderful service... -- gthal ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gthal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9454 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34771 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/squeezenetwork
