We should get confirmation from Slimdevices, but I think the ogg decoder is the "standard" one (if it exists), e.g. the one used in foobar2000. Then just use this player with AB/X testing (double blind test) extension to see if you can actually spot any difference between a properly encoded track at -q8 and the original.
