No, you do not need a jail broken iPhone/Touch to use the iPeng skin -
it's just an HTML website accessed via your iPhone/Touch Safari
browser.  However, you are correct in that it only works with
SqueezeCenter (not SqueezeNetwork).  That said, with SqueezeCenter you
do not need to disconnect from your local computer and connect to
SqueezeNetwork - you just access it via the links in SqueezeCenter.  So
in that regard, iPeng works very well with SqueezeNet services (most
anyway, as it is still in beta).

As for SqueezeCenter/Net not working well with the iPhone, you have to
remember that Logitech/Slim are releasing the Duet/Controller which
will control any Squeezebox far better than any skin or 3rd party app
developed for the iPhone/Touch.  They have very little reason to devote
their resources to developing via iPhone's/Touch still-not-released SDK
if they plan to promote and sell their own far better solution.
