If you did a factory re-set why would the SB3 display FW v81?  I think
v8x are all SC7 FW versions.  Though a factory re-set may not wipe out
the FW, I dunno.

Again, try holding Brightness button while connected to SS.  This
should force it to look for the FW presented by SS.

It may be that FW versions are universal and make no difference
whatsoever, I dunno.  However, if FW versions are matched to versions
of SS or SC then a FW to SS/SC incompatibility *might* be why your SB3
is not functioning as it did before you introduced SC7.

It is all I can think of that may be causing your troubles as you were
not having issues with the original SS6.5.4 and it's associated FW
version.    :(
