Yes, in fact it does explain the Boom if your router state was the
issue. That's why I knew to suggest that you restart your router.

You see... if both were down there are many things that can cause an
issue. If you have two things and one is working we know a lot more. We
know the end point is working. We now know you have an issue on your
end. if we assume the products are functional then we have a few things
to look at. Routers, switches and cables. *Most* of the time the router
is to blame. Lots of things going on in that little box. A bit of
voodoo for most. Lets just say its not a stupid and simple piece of
equipment. Each device on your network that is connecting to your
router is tracked by the router. if you are physically connected with
cables they there is both a hardware and software component for each
connection. Lots of things to go wrong on a per device basis.

A bad device or a device doing bad network things can make a consumer
grade router confused. A router can just plain old get confused on its
own. A lot of what a router does is store states of data and devices.
if it's storing a bad state often the only way to unconfuse the router
is to restart it.

I've been overly simplistic here, but I hope you get the point.

Sure, I didn't know with 100% certainty that it was the router, but as
mentioned it's pretty common and is your largest point of failure in
your network.
