I posted this in another thread a little while back. In a nutshell, SB players are networked devices and must be connected to a server to function (excluding simple audio input jacks on some models). MySB.com is simply an online server for Internet Radio, Music Services, Podcasts, with no computer needed on your end. SBS server on your computer will do everything MySB can do, plus a lot more and SBS is much more configurable and customizable. Some MySB limitations vs SBS: - no access to your local music library - can't Sync Last.fm to multiple players - AAC streams are not offered via Internet Radio menu - cannot create Folders and sub-Folders in Favorites SBS uses MySB in the background so having a single place for Apps etc.. allows for any usage scenario, all from a single App management location. - just use SBS - just use MySB online - switch between both (turn off your computer, travel with your SB player, computer is not available, etc..) There are advantages and disadvantages to the idea of centralizing all App management via a single online location like MySB. I also suspect (with absolutely no inside knowledge) that there may be licensing restrictions with some of the Music Services that require Logitech to keep such services under their control. A further guess is probably Logitech preferring one location for all App management for reasons of code simplicity and streamlining. Example: Changes to the code of any one particular App need only take place on MySB.com instead of also making such changes on SBS code as well. Then you get into having to change such App code on every instance of SBS (PC, Mac, NAS, beta, production, etc...).
