Yes, that's exactly how to avoid the up/down grading. Download the latest release firmware from: http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/7.5.4/ Place the files in the cache/updates directory to avoid the downgrades. You can find the location of your cache directory on the Settings > Information page, near the bottom.
