Ok, figured it out... unfortunately updating those two files is not good
enough :-(. The mysb.com side of the implementation is checking the
version string of your LMS, too. If you connected your player to
mysb.com directly (just as a test) then you should get flac.
If you're dedicated to getting this working, you could edit
slimserver.pl to bump the version string from 7.7.3 to 7.7.4...
