No, it's a bit different. They are using a paranoid security level no new services use anymore. It's because they have that security concept in their contracts with rights holders and that's probably a legacy phenomenon because they've been around for so long. Today's newer services don't do this anymore. They secure access to the stream but not the stream itself so that you can't access it without paying for the service but they don't prevent users from recording the streams. Why? Because that makes sense. 1. Nobody records stuff readily available anyway 2. People who _do_ want to distribute pirated copies of music get it anyway, it's everywhere on the internet and in better quality (at least in the case of Rhapsody) so you don't stop any piracy with this. Plus, you could re-record the digital, encoded audio stream if you wanted. No, this is Rhapsody adding a useless layer of annoying pseudo-security because they have to. BTW: good luck with finding a solution for the Pi. Rhapsody's end-to-end encryption should prohibit using such a platform because the stream would exactly not be secure on it. Especially if it means their encryption keys would have to be included in some open source code. You won't find any open solutions supporting Rhapsody.
