According to recent studies by Dolby and others, audiophiles are back in style again. Unlike Gen Y, the Tidepod generation is actually interested in audio quality. The days of the loudness wars are over. Things like Atmos Music, Tidal/Qobuz, Apple Lossless, etc are taking hold and bringing a love of music quality to the nee generation. When the squeezebox was killed, we were still in the mp3 generation! Yuck! If Logitech was smart (and yes, I know they aren't), they would turn the project into a high-end streamer project for home audio enthusiasts. There are quite a few products out there now based on volumio and I have to say that this project offers way more features and can integrate better with existing setups. I have a ton of Chromecast devices and I can easily use my LMS to stream to them and UPnP devices as well. Since Logitech wont, maybe a proprietary/binary plugin could be written under NDA by someone to take better advantage of Tidal (and MQA for those that want it) so we can ditch the one on mysqueezebox.com, which I think needs to be done anyway in case they finally retire the server. If mconnect could talk to the UPnP side (bugs in both projects are preventing this at the moment), that would be a good temporary work-around. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ uudruid74's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=72371 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115466 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezenetwork
