Hello, I have a couple of question regarding SQUID
and control of its cache.
In the example of purging in the FAQ (7.5) there is a domain name listed.
What is meant by an 'object'?
Does this mean you purge all documents from a particular domain?
client -m PURGE http://www.microsoft.com/
Can you purge documents from subdirectories in a particular domain?
ex: client -m PURGE http://www.miscreant.com/sidekicks/*
So I could set up a cron job to delete particular
sites at particular times of the day/week/month?
A more elegant solution is below but can this be done easily?
If the browser sends an IFMODIFIED DATE in the header,
does the proxy use this, or does it use its own algorithm and/or its own
IFMODIFIED DATE?
Can one send in the HTTP header (to the proxy), parameters
such as NOCACHE or a specific time (TTL)?
Why do I ask?
If there are objects in the cache, I want to be able
to request either a cached or fresh copy based on my own
criteria, such as:
'current time' - 'object time' < 1hr or 1day
where 'object time' = time when the object was first cached.
This would give us full control over when to force
refreshes.
Thanks for any help you can provide on this topic.
Any and all information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Hans
