Nevermind ... I was just too dull to understand what I was seeing in the logs. Got it working.

Looking at the logs, I see that in both cases SQUID from router queries SQUID from qube, and (1) returns TCP_MISS->TCP_PARENT_MISS whereas (2) just copies the request to qube. So far so good, BUT I keep getting misses even when repeatedly hitting refresh in the browser. Any clue why?

P.S.: I found one website that claimed that it had newer content and didn't want to be cached, so I assume that all the other ones (microsoft.com, google.com, ...) should be cacheable, right?
