please read this part of the squid faq: http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-4.html#ss4.14

try using a conservative size for cache_dir, say 2500 or 3000MB.

hope this helps.

are you using FreeBSD?
is 5% of your partition reserved for root?

I am using red hat linux 7.3 with squid 2.5 Stable 3. Its compiled not a rpm.
total partition is 3.9GB 5% of this should be 0.195GB which shoud be available.
Do u know mean we have to specify it some where?????Sorry for the ignorance.
Thanx in advance

Hi
This is my cache_dir line in squid.conf
cache_dir ufs /cache 3500 16 256

my /cache total size is 3.9G
df -h shows this for /cache
/dev/sda5 3.9G 3.7G 272M 94% /cache

If I have limit /cache to 3500MB, why is its size growing much higher then

that? I also have these lines in my cache.log
