Ok, I know this is a little backwards, but it looks like we were having problems with the old email list program (unrelated to the migration problem that we had with Mailman). Here's the initial post that I sent out today concerning the conversion process. It looks like this post and a few others did not make it out to the list, so I'm re-sending them through our new list program. This is why you suddenly received a welcome message without warning, although I thought I had given head's up with the post below. It also explains why the "Success" email I sent out seemed to come out of nowhere as well.

Scott, who could use a drink right now ----> The Squid List <-------------------------------------------------- We are in the process of converting The Squid List from the email list program: Ezmlm to a new email list program: Mailman. This is our 2nd switch, originally we used majordomo for the list. For you geeks out there, Mailman is a highly customizable, open source (GNU GPL) email program written in Python: http://list.org Here's some of the new features: 1) Mailman is password-based, which will make it much easier for you to maintain your subscription and will help to eliminate some of the problems that we have had in the past when list members tried to subscribe/unsubscribe from a different email address. 3) You will be able to use web-based administration for your subscription, including: - subscribing/unsubscribing - switching to and from digest mode - temporarily suspending subscription (ie. if you go away on vacation) - specifying MIME or plain text digests - changing your password - re-sending forgotten password 3) There will be a weekly, web-based archive of posts available to all subscribers. 4) A monthly password reminder will automatically be sent to you. We will automatically convert your current subscription to the new list software. There is nothing that you will need to do to make this happen. During the conversion process you will receive a welcome message with a password that will be assigned by Mailman. You will be able to change your password along with your subscriptions options by following the info on the welcome email. Mailman is pretty intuitive, so please hold off on sending us email with questions until you see how it all works. We think you'll like the changes. We hope to have the conversion done by the end of today.
