I will most likely continue Lite-Brite-Nite at the O2 bar upon my return, with new equipment, new sounds, & new guest artists. Insect Funeral casts a spell of sonic rapture, weaving a mesmerizing web of sound blendage to create an otherworldly musical experience. As a primarily improvisational art form, it relies on the synchronicity & live interaction between artists & equipment. Alaric Burns mixes sounds drawn from an eclectic library of literally hundreds of original & acquired cassettes, multi-track tapes, & CDs. These sounds are altered using various audio processing devices, and mixed through two or more speakers. Andres Amador is a synthesist who also performs on home made digeredoos, uniquely modified to extend the instruments capabilities. He alters these sounds through signal processors for a wide range of expression. As Insect Funeral their talents combine to create entrancing soundscapes of delicate beauty, hypnotic power, and deeply felt emotions. GUEST ARTISTS FOR TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 19 Dr. Friendly The good Doctor is an artist, researcher, and programmer using biologically and culturally-inspired algorithms to create interactive, self-organizing visual & audio art systems. "I program computers to create universes in which life-like, organic forms emerge spontaneously in live, sensual collaboration with the artist; I then create instrument systems with which I perform in collaboration with artificial image and sound lifeforms. The self-organizing nature of the systems make it simple and intuitive to create a vast range of fascinating content.
