----> Event Description <-----------------------------------------------

Great Bay Area event Arthur Bradfords Hows Your News? Team meets San
Franciscos Youth Speaks in an unforgettable night or film, music, poetry.
Many special guests.

Hows Your News? is coming to San Francisco in a benefit for Youth Speaks,
cosponsored by McSweeneys and Zoetrope All-Story

Text:
Hows Your News is a documentary featuring a team of news reporters with
mental and physical disabilities who journey across America conducting
interviews with everyone they meet. The documentary was directed by Arthur
Bradford, frequent McSwys contributor and author of the short story
collection Dogwalker.

The entire cast and crew will be on hand at Cellspace, at 18th and Bryant,
on Feb 21st to present the film and answer questions afterward. As a very
special treat, The Hows Your News Band will perform original songs from the
film's soundtrack after the show. Not to be missed!

A knockout -- hilarious and heartwarming" -- The Boston Globe

"See this movie any chance you get'"- Aint It Cool News

"I've never used the words "tribute to the human spirit" without sarcasm,
but there's no other way to describe how the performers' love for what they
did made them so radiant, made us all clutch the T-shirts Bradford threw
from the stage and pull them over whatever we were wearing -- fashion be
damned -- and made sociological analysis seem giddily irrelevant. On our way
home we couldn't wait for the morning, to tell everybody." - Toronto Globe
and Mail

The coming of Hows Your News? -- which had been planned many months ago --
coincides with a great dip in grants and tax-based benefits for San
Francisco nonprofits, including Youth Speaks, a fantastic program that
brings spoken-word poetry into city schools.

Were hoping to combine these two interests into an unforgettable night.
Many of us at McSweeneys have seen the film, which is truly beautiful and,
to aptly use an overused word, inspirational. But to see both the movie and
its stars live -- which many of us did in Amsterdam (where they shared a
stage and microphone with David Byrne, among others) -- is something else
entirely. Its a wildly entertaining show.

Add to this three Youth Speaks poets, and many Bay Area McSwys contributors
and representatives of McSwys and Zoetrope, including our own M.R., and you
have an event you should not miss.

Cost per attendee is $10, but you may pay more if you wish. All proceeds
will go to Youth Speaks, which needs to raise many thousands of dollars very
soon in order to avoid cutting staff and programs.
