        ------
"... Mitchell is neither overly reverential nor didactic; in
fact, this is a gripping theatrical experience that will keep
you on the edge of your seat throughout ..." Marin Independent

         Journal,

"Mystical true-life tale..." San Francisco Chronicle

TALKING WITH ANGELS: a true story

         Budapest: 1944
Four young Hungarian artists encountered luminous forces
that shed new light on their understanding of art, science,
consciousness and love. Only one of them survived to tell the
           tale...

TALKING WITH ANGEL; banned in Hungary until 1990 because of its
provocative philosophical and spiritual message, is a rare
historic document like the diary of Anne Frank barely preserved from the
chaos of Nazi occupied Hungary. It juxtaposes the rich inner life of
four spiritual seekers with the depraved exterior of their homeland, blending
terror with ecstasy.

Momentous in content, this play recognizes the voice and gives
us the legacy of those who were silenced in the death camps.
Victor Frankel, author of "Man's Search for Meaning" observed
"those of us who survived the death camps know that the best of
         us did not return."

Extraordinary in its use of symbol and expression, TALKING WITH
ANGELS is a theatrical experience that is as uplifting as it is

         riveting.

Shelley Mitchell (adapter, performer) is an actress, producer,
teacher and humanist and has been performing Talking with Angels
for the past two years in San Francisco and New York.
In 1998 and '99 she performed Nobel prize winner Dario Fo and
Franca Rame's one woman extravaganza ORGASMO ADULTO ESCAPES FROM

THE ZOO for which she was nominated as Best Solo Performer by
the San Francisco Theater Critics Circle. Shelley currently
teaches at The Actors Center of San Francisco.

Shelley Mitchell worked and studied extensively in NYC.
Highlights include 4 years training directly with Lee Strasberg
at his institute and at the Actors Studio where she also apprenticed
with Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel and Ellen Burstyn. She is a graduate of
the Circle in the Square Theater School where she worked with
many other distinguished but lesser known NYC actors and
         teachers.

"Extraordinary light emerges from the dark in Shelley Mitchell's
brilliantly realized production of Talking With Angels: the astonishing
story of revelation and redemption in the midst of the Holocaust."
Michael Murphy, Esalen Institute
