I actally got them working over sessions now, read below..

Hmm..
I'm using the flat files..

I have noted that i normally have to "Sign Out" in order
to get a change to take. ( i.e. logout/login )
And in some cases i have to repeat this a few times
to get the setting there. This was the scenario for the
sorting "buttons".

The thing that got strange after setting the sort order now
is that when i change to the "INBOX" folder i always end up
in "page 1". i.e. i always see the first mail in the mailbox.
I then have to change the page to "13" where the last mail is..
I assume that this is by design?

I have used the IMHO webmail package before and there you have a
setting of where the "first" and "last" mail should be in the
message view. I.e bottom-up or up-down. This setting is per user
and is under "Options".
There is also a possibility to sort items but this completely
separated from the view order option and is implemented in the
same way as in SM.
