What happens when you:
telnet localhost 25
What SMTP server do you get then? Are you sure postfix isn't only
listening on external interfaces, while courierd is listening on
localhost? Have you tried halting courierd, and restarting postfix,
and checking it's configurations? Are there any errors in the log
files, such as reports of not being able to bind to ports?

It would have produced an error if there was a permissions problem.
When you say you saved a message, do you mean you were composing,
and told it to go to the drafts folder?
