BE CAREFUL!  It appears to me as if apache is running as root on your box.  I’m not an apache expert, so maybe someone else can chime in or you can ask elsewhere, but this is definitely not right.  For instance, if I chown everything in my data dir to root, I get errors, which is to be expected.  I definitely do not want apache to have root permissions!

I tried logging on as Muckleroy instead of muckleroy.  It gave me an error about being able to WRITE to the prefs directory.  I changed the owner of directory prefs to root:root and now everything works.  Go figure…  Thanks for the help

huh.  not sure, your permissions look good.  for fun, why not try 777 on both the prefs directory AND the files in it.  looks like every thing is owned by apache:apache, which is your webserver user, right?

I changed prefs to 775 but I have the same error message.

is the path in the error message correct (seems like it, but you don’t specifically say)?

try going with 775 permissions on the prefs directory itself.
