Terribly sorry, but Squirrelmail has virtually nothing to do with e-mail being sent. The SMTP server you use, however, does. I suggest checking your SMTP server settings to be sure that they are correct -- or, at the least, the same as the settings on the client that seems to go quickly. Once Squirrelmail has said that the mail is sent, however, it is out of its hands, and any blame would lie squarely on _some_ SMTP server between the one specificed in SM's profile, through the receiving one, inclusive.
Bottom line: Squirrelmail has precious little to do with "sending" mail, other than ensuring that the SMTP server in its config has gotten it.
