[SM-USERS] HELP! Preferences won't save...

I'm using Squirrel 1.4 and it works great, at least at the basic functions.  However, I cannot get any user options/preferences (i.e. display preferences, folder options, etc) to save... not even the color theme, and maybe worst of all, not even the user's Name, Signaturek, or other personal options.   I've tried setting the data folder to CHMOD 777, allowing full writing rights, but still no luck.   Any ideas as to how I can fix this?  Is it a setting somewhere in a php file or anything?   Thanks!
