(i.e. displays the html, does not render it) It's working just like it should. ok, just to clarify: then you are saying that if "show HTML version" is set to no, then, if a message does not have a text part, SM will not interpret or render the html at all, but just  display the html message, including codes, it as if it were plain text. ok, I can see that this makes sense. however in this case, it is stripping out the html and displaying the funky ;   stuff workaround - Is there a way to set the default preference on this item to "Show HTML version" - yes ... so I dont get a bunch of complaints...
