Ok I have set up a sendmail (8) server on RedHat (9) the mail interface itself works great and management loves it. To get vacation working I set up usermin with its module as a stop gap. When I apply the vacation module that comes with squirrelmail and attempt to access the link I get the following error:

Fatal error: Failed opening required '../../include/validate.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /usr/share/squirrelmail/plugins/vacation/vac_init.php on line 14

I fixed this by changing include to src in the vac_init.php file (old directory structure?)

I the got an error:

Fatal error: Failed opening required '../functions/i18n.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /usr/share/squirrelmail/src/validate.php on line 22

now this it what confuses me from the /usr/share/squirrelmail/src directory ../functions would
take you to /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/ and when I do a locate on i18n.php I get

Locate (after an updatedb):
/usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/i18n.php

So next I am going to manually put that in the validate.php file to see if that fixes ...

anyway to make a long story short I had to hack the heck out of every file that used ../functions
I was wondering if anyone had seen anything like this before (I am a newb to php) and if there
was a clean set of files that worked..

Thanks in advance
