Chris had it backward, actually.  You are using a plugin designed for SM
1.4 on an older version.  I suggest:

 - upgrade to SM 1.4
 - read the plugin descriptions before downloading:

Plugins - Vacation Plugin
Version 1.41
Description: Fixed to work with SM 1.4. Use previous version for 1.2.x
support!
