Well, not quite.

I have a file of sig tags with 219 lines in it. When I go to the Hancock
options page and import it, it tells me "1 signatures importd". On
returning to the options page, I'm told "There are 9 signatures".

When I go to a Compose window, I still don't see anything. However if I
send the message, all 219 lines of the imported file are appended to the
message.

What I would really like (beyond only adding the one tagline) is for the
signature to show up in the compose window. That way I can preview the
tagline before sending it out (nothing like sending my boss a message
about why my project will be late and having the tagline say "I love
deadlines, especially the whooshing sound they make as they go flying
by").

Also, it would be nice if the header/footer could support more than one
line. I usually like to include my email address and web address in my
sig, along with the random line from my collection.

(I already know the response to all that: as soon as I learn how to write
PHP the SquirrelMail maintainers would be happy to have me work on it).

I also looked at the Taglines plugin. Since that one would let me specify
the command that is used for the 'fortune', I thought that I might be able
to substitute my own bash script to select the line from my file. I can
do that, but there is no way for individual users to enable or disable it,
and I couldn't see a way for users to specify their own taglines. And it
still doesn't add the tagline until I send the message.

Got any recomendations for books on PHP?
