They should be deleted... the only thing that'd cause them not to be
deleted is if you navigate away from the compose screen after you have
told it to forward an email as an attachment. You can cure this (as
Paul suggested) with a script that cleans up... a tmp cleaner for
example, there are plenty floating about, but a simple bash script
shouldn't be that difficult.
