One machine I use takes ages to finish loading the window for some
reason which means the onload Javascript to change the focus is executed
well after I've started typeing my message. I would rather do my own
focussing. I see there is an option to turn off Javascript, what other
Javascript does this affect?

plenty of stuff
I can put the option to *NOT* focus into cvs in a bit.
